Admission Requirements
Minimum Admission Requirements:
To be considered for minimum admission to MANCOSA’s Bachelor of Commerce in Transportation and Logistics Management programme, any one of the following qualifications may apply and the minimum requirement:
A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or
A National Vocational Certificate (NCV) level 4 qualification with a 50% pass in English. – with a Degree study endorsement or
General Education Diploma (GED) or
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) or
An equivalent accredited NQF level 4 (120 credits) qualification with English language proficiency or
An accredited NQF Level 5 higher certificate in related fields or
Achievement of relevant higher education qualifications at the required NQF level or
South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) or Universities’ South Africa (USA) certification of equivalence or
Proof of prior qualifications which contributes to eligibility into the programme.
For mature age exemption the applicant should:
Be over the age of 23 (with a pass in Matric)
Be at least 45 years of age (not in possession of school leaving certificate)
Not be in possession of an accredited post-matric qualification (120 credits)
MANCOSA acknowledges the diversity of potential students and aims to provide broad access
to higher education while adhering to the HEQSF (HEQSF, 2014).
Selections Criteria
MANCOSA’s admission and selection processes are fair, clear, and explicit, and support, where practically possible, broad, and diverse access for those with the potential to benefit from higher education. In achieving this, all applications are received and processed by the MANCOSA Admissions and Selections Department and are referred to the Academics for final approval. The Admissions and Selections processes are guided by the requirements which are stipulated in the Higher Education Qualifications Sub-Framework (HEQSF, 2014).
The Admissions and Selections Policy and Terms of Reference provides clear guidelines and regulations for the admission and selection of prospective students, both nationally and internationally, to advance the strategic objectives of MANCOSA as articulated in its vision and mission statements.
MANCOSA has minimum academic requirements that applicants must meet to be considered for admission onto a programme, and these criteria are outlined in the MANCOSA Admissions and Selections Policy. The selection criteria for this programme are in accordance with the MANCOSA Admissions and Selections Policy. Selection criteria for study at MANCOSA include a review of the following:
Achievement of relevant higher education qualifications at the required NQF level;
Personal interviews;
Biographical information;
Portfolio of evidence;
Recognition of prior learning (RPL);
South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) or Universities’ South Africa (USA) certification of equivalence; and
Applicants for the programme must demonstrate proficiency in the English language for effective communication, participation in the programme and academic success.
Prospective students are required to have successfully passed either Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy at NQF level 4, as specified by the admission criteria. Proficiency in mathematical concepts is essential for understanding and applying quantitative aspects relevant to transportation and logistics management
