The purpose of the Postgraduate Diploma in Cybersecurity programme is to assist with shaping and producing professionals who are competent and astute in the design, implementation and management of information security systems, technologies, and frameworks and to fill a widening gap in industry, commerce and government which is made apparent by the shortage of qualified and skilled information technology professionals in general, and cybersecurity specialists in particular.

The completion of a Postgraduate Diploma meets the minimum entry requirement for admission to a cognate Master’s Degree predominantly in the area of specialisation of the Postgraduate Diploma offered both locally and internationally.

Admission Requirements
The admission requirement for the Postgraduate Diploma in Cybersecurity programme is as follows:
Achievement of relevant higher education qualifications at the required NQF level
Proof of prior qualifications which contributes to eligibility in the programme
South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) or Universities’ South Africa (USA) certification of equivalence
An Advanced Diploma in Information Technology in the field of Computer Networks or Cybersecurity, or
A Baccalaureus Technologiae: Information Technology in the field of Communication Networks or Support Services, or
A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity, or
An equivalent qualification at NQF level 7 with specialisation in Computer Networks or Cybersecurity
Applicants who do not meet the minimum requirements as outlined above but have demonstrable equivalent knowledge and skills acquired through work or other life experiences, may apply for alternative access by proving competency through a formal RPL process to be admitted to the programme.
Selections Criteria
For students to be eligible for the programme, they are required to meet the pre-requisites in the admission criteria. The selection criteria for this programme are in accordance with the MANCOSA Admissions and Selections Policy. The selection criteria for study at MANCOSA include one or more of the following:
Admission is subject to selection
Candidates are evaluated based on the previous qualification obtained in the field of Cybersecurity
Consideration will be given to candidates who obtained an average of 60% in the previous qualification in Cybersecurity
