MANCOSA and Crusaders Rugby Club Launch Strategic Collaboration to Support Player Development Through Sport
On Friday, 08 May 2026, MANCOSA officially launched its collaboration with Crusaders Rugby Club through a kit handover and partnership unveiling, marking the start of a relationship that brings together education and sport in support of player development. The launch coincided with one of the club’s first home matches of the season, setting the tone for an exciting and competitive rugby calendar ahead.

This milestone moment reflects a shared commitment to community upliftment, and sporting excellence. Through this collaboration, MANCOSA seeks to drive purpose through the game of rugby, recognising its power to instil values such as discipline, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. Sport provides a unique platform beyond the traditional academic setting, where young minds can be developed, sharpened, and prepared with the skills needed to succeed both on and off the field.
Crusaders Rugby Club boasts six senior teams, the most in the province, with each side consistently competing at a high level within their respective leagues. With a total of 58 league games scheduled across the six teams, the upcoming season promises to be both demanding and competitive.
Key fixtures include:
- 15th May away to Collegians
- 22nd May at home to the newly promoted Hillcrest Villagers
- 30th May at home to KZN Premier League Champions College Rovers
At its core, this collaboration supports the holistic development of players, recognising rugby as a powerful platform for building discipline, resilience, teamwork, and leadership. These attributes extend far beyond the field, equipping players with the mindset and skills needed to navigate both their sporting journeys and future career paths. Through supporting the club’s existing structures, MANCOSA contributes to an environment where athletes are encouraged to grow not only as players, but as individuals.
“This partnership marks the beginning of an exciting new era for Crusaders Rugby. MANCOSA has embraced our club, our people and our community from day one, and together we share a vision to grow something far bigger than rugby alone.” Says Barry Brown, Vice Chairman of Northwood Crusaders Sports Club. “We believe this partnership will create meaningful impact not only for our rugby programme, but for the broader Crusaders community for years to come.”
Crusaders Rugby Club brings a strong and established foundation to this collaboration, with a senior section of over 250 adult players aged 19 and above. This is further supported by a vibrant feeder system of more than 400 young athletes between the ages of 6 and 18, demonstrating the depth of talent within the club and its ongoing commitment to grassroots rugby development. This pipeline plays a critical role in nurturing young talent and ensuring the sustainability and growth of the sport within the community.
MANCOSA has over 30 years of experience and a proven, long-standing commitment to empowering individuals through accessible, quality education, with a strong focus on developing future leaders who can contribute meaningfully to society. Rooted in the belief that education is a catalyst for transformation, the institution continues to create opportunities that equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset needed to build sustainable careers and lasting impact.
Loshnee Bridgmohan, MANCOSA Marketing Manager, who played a key role in establishing the partnership, said,
“At MANCOSA, we recognise that true development extends beyond the classroom or the field. This partnership creates a platform where discipline, education, and ambition intersect.”
Ultimately, this collaboration underscores the value of sport as a developmental tool. By supporting initiatives that foster discipline, teamwork, and resilience, MANCOSA and Crusaders Rugby Club contribute to shaping well-rounded individuals who are equipped to succeed both on and off the field.
