The Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) in collaboration with the Services Skills Education and Training Authority (Services SETA) provided training to 583 South African Post Office (SAPO) employees.
The students were selected from across the country and were enrolled onto the Bachelor of Business Administration degree which commenced in January 2013. The programme was delivered in 7 of the country’s 9 provinces. The delegates were divided into 18 groups with the majority of students from Gauteng and surrounding regions.
The aim of the initiative was to equip the SAPO employees with business administration and management skills.
MANCOSA hosted an official graduation ceremony in Johannesburg, where 384 delegates graduated, despite being in full-time employment, maintaining busy lifestyles and fulfilling family commitments.
Professor Yusuf Karodia, Principal of MANCOSA, saluted the graduates in his address:
“This ceremony is indeed a great occasion with 384 students graduating today. It signals the continuing achievement of the mission of our growth to develop and broaden the managerial and leadership skills of our people.”
Professor Karodia encouraged graduates to further their knowledge and skills:
“Given the rapid changes taking place in society a Master’s qualification will soon be the minimum work requirement in both public and private institutions. We therefore encourage all of you to continue with postgraduate studies up to the MBA and indeed the PhD level.”
In concluding his address, Professor Karodia requested the graduates to be humble at all times and never to forget where they have come from.
The graduation ceremony was attended by a number of prominent members of the SAPO management team including Ms Anthea Seafield, the Group Executive: Human Capital Management, Ms Nichola Dewar, the Chief Financial Officer and Mrs Twanett, Manager of Learnerships.
Dignitaries in attendance from the Services SETA included Ms Shireen Raju, Manager: LIPC Implementation as well as Mr Joelyga Lawrence, Chamber Manager: Communication and Marketing Services.
MANCOSA congratulates the SAPO delegates on their achievement, and wishes them a prosperous and fruitful career going forward.
