The Seedstars Group held the Durban phase of their 2016 Seedstars World Event at Mancosa [GSB] on the evening of 8th June. There was some intense competition from the eight entrepreneur groups that took part in the competition. The week before the event, all eight groups received mentoring from established entrepreneurs in Durban, to assist them in refining their pitch and business plan. Well researched and eloquently delivered pitches ensued on the night, with a tough and thought provoking question and answer session that followed each presentation.
The judge’s deliberation took approximately 35 minutes, while guests and attendees enjoyed snacks and refreshments provided by the Mancosa [GSB] Business Class Lounge. Once the judges’ discussions had come to a close and everyone had taken their seats in the auditorium, the crowd demonstrated their excitement and enthusiasm through a unified drumroll in anticipation of the announcement of the three winners that would earn a place in the Johannesburg semi-final round. A select few groups will go to the final in Geneva, Switzerland to stand the chance of winning $500 000 amongst other prizes and business tools, provided by the numerous supporters and partners.
