The Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) in collaboration with Human Capacity Consulting and Learning Solutions (HCC&LS) provided training to Rhodes Food Group (RFG) employees.
The delegates from the Western Cape, Gauteng and Limpopo Province were enrolled onto the Higher Certificate in Business Management programme which commenced in October 2014.
The aim of the training was to equip the RFG employees with the essential knowledge, skills and training necessary to improve their business management skills.
MANCOSA and HCC&LS subsequently hosted a graduation ceremony in Cape Town and Gauteng, where 37 delegates graduated, despite being in full-time employment, maintaining busy lifestyles and fulfilling family commitments.
Professor Enslin van Rooyen, Dean of MANCOSA, saluted the graduates in his address and gave the following valuable thoughts:
“The world of 2016 remains challenging. It remains cruel even. It remains devoid of humanness. So, as proficient as any management programme may make you, I will challenge you to say that if you do not practice humanness, you have missed an opportunity to Lead Your Best Life.
Allow me to challenge you to live by the following two principles:
- Strive towards being useful; and
- Strive towards being kind! That’s all! No more! Success will follow!
Allow me to explain:
To Lead Your Best Life, you must be optimally useful.
There is no insignificant work in the world.
All labour is a chance to express personal talents, to create our art and to realise the genius we are built to be.
We must work like a good artist paints: with devotion, passion, energy and excellence.
In this way, our productivity will not only become a source of inspiration to others, but it will have an impact – making a difference in the lives around us – you will be optimally useful.
One of the greatest secrets to a life beautifully lived is to do work that matters. And to ascend to such a state of mastery in it that people can’t take their eyes off of you.
To Lead Your Best Life, live with ultimate kindness
It is important to remember that just as our words are our thoughts verbalised, so our deeds are our beliefs actualised.
No action, no matter how small, is insignificant – how we treat someone defines how we treat everyone, including ourselves.
If we are mistrustful of others, we are distrustful of ourselves.
If we are cruel to another, we will be cruel to ourselves.
If we can’t appreciate those around us, we won’t appreciate ourselves.
With every person we engage, in everything we do, we must be kinder than expected, more generous than anticipated, more positive than we thought possible.
Every moment in front of another human being is an opportunity to express our highest values and to influence someone with our humanness.
Lead your life – make the world better, one person at a time.”
To that end, MANCOSA and HCC&LS congratulates the Rhodes Food Group delegates on their achievement, and wishes them a prosperous and fruitful career going forward.
