Academic milestone for father and daughter

MANCOSA’s May 2015 graduation was a milestone affair for the Singh family of Palmview, Phoenix who saw both a father Mr Jaykumar Singh, 43 and his daughter, Lyntasha graduate.

Mr Singh was conferred with his Bachelor of Business Administration degree while his daughter was capped with a Certificate in Business Management.

Mr Singh said he was overjoyed to be graduating simultaneously with his daughter: “I’m excited to   be graduating with my daughter. It’s not often that a father and daughter graduates at the same time. This is a double celebration for our family.”

The Depot Manager for a petroleum company, said he was happy to have obtained the BBA, a degree he decided to study towards his second degree because the additional qualification would add value to his career and help him achieve job progression.

“Studying and working can be difficult but you have to be committed to your studies. It’s hard work so you have to be consistent with your studying. I would advise others to study while working, it is important if you want to make head way in life,” said Mr Singh.

Lyntasha, an Administration Clerk who is currently pursuing the Supply Chain Management degree at MANCOSA said her father was a pillar of strength to her and inspired her to achieve good results.

“My dad set a good example for me. He showed me how important obtaining an education was. Due to his own experience studying he played an important role in my studies. There were many times when we’d study together. He was very helpful and supportive.  Our times together also offered us time to bond as father and daughter,” said Lyntasha.
