Teaching and Learning Coordinator : Durban

Core purpose:

The Management College of Southern Africa (MANCOSA) seeks the services of a Teaching and Learning Co-ordinator. The Teaching and Learning co-ordinator will be required to assist in and co-ordinate projects towards the development of teaching and learning within the faculty in conjunction with the Teaching and Learning Manager and Academic Director.

Core functions:

  • Administrative, report writing, advanced skills in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, editing and proofing.
    Creative and innovative. Min – two years in assisting with curriculum and academic literacy initiatives.
  • Assisting with facilitating, monitoring and evaluating of projects i.e. training and resource building.
  • Assisting with facilitating and disseminating innovative pedagogical practices within departments, including using emerging technologies in teaching and learning.
  • Assisting with facilitating the embedding of disciplinary graduate attributes in the academic programme, and monitoring how these are incorporated into Teaching and Learning activities and assessment tasks.
  • Assisting with initiating and implementing professional staff development in the area of Teaching and Learning through consultation with academic departments and liaising with Academic, Library and Student Services staff.
  • Assisting with conducting research into the barriers to learning and documenting ways in which this can be developed.
  • Assisting with monitoring student experience and ensuring follow up on recommendations for improved practice through Teaching and Learning.
  • Assisting in the promoting the scholarship of Teaching & Learning in the Institution by collaborating with academics in the Faculty to uncover best practice in the field of Teaching and Learning.
  • Assistance facilitating an understanding of regional integration, compliance with Higher education standards in assessments, curriculum, CHE, SAQA, DHET and other compliance bodies.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Teaching and Learning Manager and the higher education institution working within an Academic/ Student Support Services/ Library and the Learning Management System departments.


  • A minimum Bachelors’ Degree in Educational Management and Administration or
  • Bachelor of Arts (Communication Science, English, Media Studies) or
  • Law Degree coupled ICT Qualifications.


  • Minimum of two years’ experience within a higher education academic/ student support department

Competencies and skills:

  • Understanding of teacher education programmes
  • Possess working knowledge of SA higher education and regulatory landscape
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and reporting skills
  • Must be able to work within pre-determined time frames and deadlines
  • Must be able to speak confidently and demonstrate professionalism
  • Must be a collegial team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Access, Internet and Email)
  • Proficient in Email etiquette
  • Possess a high level of organizational skills, work ethic and confidentiality

Additional requirements:

  • Must be able to work during weekends when requested.
