Curriculum Editor : Durban

Core purpose:

The purpose of this position involves applying excellent editing skills by proofreading, editing and assessing study material according to specific learning outcomes in line with the Departments Standard Operating procedure and MANCOSA’s vision and mission.

Core functions:

Proofreading and Editing

  • Ensure study material is compliant with and conforms to department standards in respect of the module guide template, study guide manual and departmental SOP.
  • Ensure study material is didactically and grammatically correct.
  • Consult with the relevant academics when necessary.

Internal Quality Check

  • Conduct quality checks aligned to the department SOP as well as the writers manual and template
  • Ensure correct module and programme outcomes are utilised
  • Ensure all content areas are included in the module guide

Coordination and Administration

  • Attend weekly department meetings and provide a report on current projects
  • Keep records regularly and monitor accordingly

Professional Development

  • Assist with conducting training for programme developers
  • Assist with conducting training for academic staff on areas of accreditation
  • Actively participate in staff development initiatives offered by the institution
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to upgrade knowledge field of expertise

General

  • Adhere to and loyally perform reasonable instructions, functions and tasks
  • Assist and attend institution functions as and when required
  • Fulfil any other reasonable request from Management

Qualification/s:

Minimum Master’s Degree (with specialisation in English)

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 Years in the related role
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Advanced research skills
  • Ability to Proof Read
  • Ability to Edit
